Luxury items your kitchen needs

Kitchens are no longer a place where you simply prepare food, they are multifunctional spaces where you can entertain guests and host parties, so it’s only natural you want these areas to look great and reflect your personality.

The only problem is, how do you decorate? This question is made even harder if you happen to like the finer things in life. Here are some of the ways in which you can add luxury to your cooking experience.

Luxe lighting

If you’re looking to make a statement in the kitchen, consider hanging pendant lighting. This feature brings the lighting to just above head level and can be used over the dining table or island bench. These lights are softer than track lighting or recessed fixtures and provide a warm and comforting glow that isn’t too intrusive.

By adding a dimmer to your pendant lights, you can control the mood of your space better. Increase the brightness while cooking, or dim it when having drinks with friends.

Sublime splashback

Splashbacks are a brilliant feature to play around with and in today’s market, there are so many different kinds of materials you can use to create a decadent focal point in your kitchen.

One of our favourite kinds to use is mirrors, as this can have the added benefit of increasing the sense of space in your kitchen. If you’re feeling brave and really want to make a sophisticated statement, play with textured materials like oxidised brass or pressed metal.

Hide your appliances

There’s nothing worse than finishing your gorgeous kitchen renovation only to realise your fridge sticks out like a sore thumb.

If you haven’t heard already, there’s a fridge on the market called Sub Zero. This wonderful futuristic refrigerator fits seamlessly into the kitchen cabinetry and ‘disappears’ so your kitchen looks uncluttered and clean. Not only is it functional, Sub Zero also has enhanced food preservation — saving you $1,500 a year on waste — as well as an internal air purifier.

Tech gadgets

The kitchen is often called the heart of the home but why can’t it have brains too? Since the smart home gadgetry has exploded, we now have moving kitchens, smart appliances, and voice-controlled cookware.

You can install cabinets which automatically close when you touch them and install master switches to control your lighting. One of our favourite gadgets, however, is the range of 6th SENSE Ovens. These ovens are touchscreen, don’t need to preheat, and cook without instructions — all you need to do is select the food category and weight. How? The oven detects the presence of the food and automatically selects the optimal cooking parameters.
