This kitchen renovation was conceived as a bold architectural statement, that balances strong visual presence with intelligent spatial planning. Designed as the functional and aesthetic heart of the home, the space integrates a concealed European laundry without compromising on performance, flow, or visual clarity. Every design decision was guided by a desire to create a refined, high-impact kitchen that performs effortlessly in daily life while maintaining a timeless, furniture-led aesthetic.

The primary objective was to deliver a kitchen that feels intentional, sculptural, and highly resolved, where utility is concealed, and form remains uninterrupted. Rather than treating the laundry as a separate or secondary function, it has been seamlessly embedded into the overall joinery composition, allowing the kitchen to operate as a cohesive architectural environment.

Clean sightlines, tonal consistency, and premium detailing were essential to achieving a space that feels calm yet confident, with a strong emphasis on material contrast and intelligent joinery solutions.

Warmth and depth are introduced through walnut matte cabinetry by George Feathers & Co, used throughout the pantry and laundry zones. The walnut finish brings a tactile, natural quality to the space, softening the darker elements and ensuring the kitchen remains welcoming despite its moody palette.

This warmth is balanced by black pure-grain base cabinetry by Laminex, which grounds the design and introduces a contemporary edge. The contrast between the timber tones and the black cabinetry creates visual rhythm and reinforces the architectural nature of the space.

At the centre of the kitchen sits a statement island benchtop crafted from Fior De Pesco marble by FUM. With its distinctive veining and subtle tonal movement, the marble island acts as a sculptural focal point—anchoring the room and providing a social hub for everyday use and entertaining.

The surrounding benchtops are finished in jet black leather-grain surfaces, selected for both their durability and tactile appeal. The leather-grain texture adds depth and interest while maintaining a low-reflective, sophisticated finish that complements the darker cabinetry.

A black satin kit kat tile splashback extends behind the cooktop and rangehood, creating a strong vertical element and reinforcing the tonal layering within the space. The fine, linear format of the tiles introduces texture and rhythm without overwhelming the overall composition, allowing the materials to work cohesively.

To maintain clean lines and a seamless, furniture like appearance, all appliances are fully integrated. Fisher & Paykel appliances including the fridge, freezer, dishwasher, oven, induction cooktop, rangehood, and wine fridge are concealed within the cabinetry, ensuring visual continuity and uninterrupted sightlines throughout the kitchen.

This integrated approach allows the joinery to take precedence, with the appliances functioning quietly in the background rather than dominating the space.

One of the defining features of this kitchen is the discreetly integrated euro laundry. Hidden behind Blum Revagio pocket doors, the laundry zone can be fully concealed when not in use, preserving the kitchen’s clean aesthetic. When opened, the pocket doors retract completely, allowing full access without encroaching on circulation space.

This solution delivers high functionality with zero visual clutter, making it ideal for contemporary homes where efficiency and design must coexist.

Intelligent hardware elevates the everyday experience within the kitchen. HF Aventos lift systems with Servo Drive have been incorporated into the appliance and storage zones, providing effortless, touch-to-open access for frequently used items such as the toaster and kettle. These features enhance usability while reinforcing the kitchen’s premium, high-performance nature.

Matte black tapware and a black Abey sink complete the composition, sharpening the overall aesthetic while maintaining consistency across finishes. These elements subtly reinforce the dark palette and contribute to the kitchen’s cohesive, architectural presence.

The completed kitchen is a confident, highly functional space that seamlessly conceals complexity behind refined design. By integrating a euro laundry, premium appliances, and intelligent joinery into a bold material palette, this renovation delivers a kitchen that is as practical as it is visually striking.
