Our client’s Sandringham home has been preserved since the 1960s and held a lot of original finishes. Not wanting to let these traditional elements go, our designer stuck to the 60s era but incorporated a modern twist.

The home already had existing slate floors and timber-lined ceilings in the bedrooms. To remain true to the era, retro style elements were injected throughout, such as stunning bespoke walnut timber veneer cabinetry that was made specifically for the home.

The kitchen was not functional for the client, as it had numerous sliding doors serving no use. Instead, our designer created a luxurious butlers pantry within the kitchen, giving the doors a purpose. In addition to the pantry, the team decided to add an additional study nook – a light and airy room with matching walnut desk and green joinery.

The home enjoys a lot of natural light, so adding timber in many areas was an element our client wanted to incorporate as much as possible. The kitchen features a retro splashback that brings life and character to the space and really captures the history of this home.

Our client was delighted with the overall result as it incorporated all the features they had hoped for and added a modern twist to such a classic home.
