Smarter Bathrooms can transform any bathroom into a beautiful and spacious bathroom.
Here’s a small Brighton ensuite we transformed from a cold, dated room to a light, bright beach feel.
The Bathroom Renovation Brief
This ensuite bathroom had always been a thorn in the side of the client. She loved her home, but she hated her cold, dark bathroom. Specifically she hated the bathroom tiles on the floor and also the dated appearance making cleaning the bathroom difficult.
Our client wanted to change the appearance of the room to a more light, bright seaside feel, with a sandy coloured floor and white walls. Our instruction in the bathroom design process was to minimise the grout to make cleaning easy, and create a warm feeling like a summers day at the beach. As this was an ensuite bathroom, it needed to integrate seamlessly with the adjoining bedroom and visually tie in.
She stored all her essentials here so storage was a big issue and we had to make the most out of the space.
The Bathroom Design
Sandy bathroom floor tiles were used to set the theme of the seaside and large format gloss white wall tiles were utilised. These minimised grout and, being rectified square edged, our tilers were able to keep the grout joins down to 1.5mm in width.
The bathroom vanity and the recessed mirrored cabinet provide ample storage for the client’s bathroom essentials. The vanity was installed floating above the floor to maximise the visual space and the wall cabinet uses all the dead space in the wall rather than hanging out into the room. This has the further advantage of maximising access to the hand basin.
A frameless sliding shower screen delivered two advantages in this bathroom renovation project; the first is the minimal visual impact it has (less is more), the second is the ease of cleaning. The sleek chrome rail across the top keeps cleaning to a minimum, leaving nothing to clean in the difficult areas at the bottom of the screen! Being a sliding door, it does not open into the room. Super sleek operation, which keeps water off the floor when it is opened after your shower. The toilet was changed over to a back to wall suite to keep the sleek look, and further minimise the cleaning of this now stylish modern ensuite bathroom.
