Our lovely clients entrusted us with their Middle Park kitchen renovation. Wanting a complete overhaul, they also tasked us with renovating the property’s three bathrooms.

The architecturally designed property sits behind what was formally a shop front and has a total width of approximately 5 metres. In such a narrow footprint, every mm counts.

The home’s staircase is positioned in the middle of the downstairs living area and angled to maximise space. However, this design did not provide adequate space for a functioning kitchen. The original kitchen footprint followed this angle and included a large u-shaped area which the owners felt was wasted space. Similarly, the owners wanted to reposition the laundry room from its original spot under the stairs to a more user-friendly location.

The clients’ brief for this kitchen renovation was to square the existing space to create a functional kitchen with more accessible storage and a more efficient layout while maximising function and aesthetics. In addition, because our clients entertain frequently, they wanted an entertainer’s kitchen they could use for large-scale entertaining.

The existing kitchen was a dated style with an awkward layout, minimal bench space and little storage. In addition, the walls were clad with a faded yellow tile, with fixtures and finishes in dire need of replacement.

To make the most of this space, we designed a galley-style kitchen because it maximises available storage space by eliminating corners. We also recommended closing the walkway through the existing laundry to create a butler’s pantry and laundry area.

By building a new butler’s pantry, our clients gained more bench space, making room for a double-integrated refrigerator/freezer, oven tower, and cooktop. In addition, we also installed a 900mm deep x 2550mm island which doubled the amount of bench space and storage in this kitchen.

We wanted to ensure that our design took full advantage of the available space while maintaining an open feel. Therefore, a lot of thought went into the layout of this kitchen—the result is that our clients enjoy an abundance of storage without feeling cramped.

Finally, our clients wanted a more luxurious feel for their new kitchen, so we helped them choose a gorgeous piece of natural marble to finish off their design. The result is a stunning kitchen space that our clients love living in!
