A professional couple who are passionate about design came to us for a major renovation of their Middle Park home. Our brief was to update their main bathroom and kitchen to create a modern, functional space with a minimalist aesthetic.

The clients had renovated their home 20+ years ago, so they felt an update was needed for the space to reflect their current taste and style.

Client’s requirements

  • Modern, minimalist design in a monochrome palette
  • Improving natural lighting
  • Efficient use of space
  • Removing a bathtub

To create their dream bathroom, we removed the large spa/bath and shifted the plumbing points, creating room for a large vanity featuring double basins and matching mirrored cabinets for face level storage. In place of the bath, we created a large shower enclosure our clients love.

To improve natural lighting, we replaced a standard window with a double-glazed glass window starting at floor level which allows more natural light in from the courtyard.

The bathroom features ultra matt grey cabinetry to match the vein of the gorgeous Portsea Grey natural marble. The basins are ultra-white matt, generating interest by contrasting with the black wall mounted tapware.

The 1500mm x 750mm floor and wall tiles were selected to minimise grout lines and give the illusion of sleek light concrete, which works with the minimal design. All the joints are mitred, which has a stunning effect.

The bathroom includes a modern heat light and LED strip lighting around each mirror cabinet and under the vanity unit. An automatic sensor light was fitted under the vanity unit for practicality.
