Smarter Bathrooms project in Elsternwick
Achieving a masculine feel using stark contrasts
Smarter Bathrooms interior designer, Teresa Kleeman, pulled out all the stops after taking a clients design brief for an ensuite bathroom renovation.
The owner (who will remain nameless) of this beautiful home in Elsternwick, Melbourne had noticed a damp smell in her wardrobe. The old bathroom had sprung a leak which had gone unnoticed for a while and needed to be rectified immediately. This prompted her to consider a complete bathroom renovation, bringing the old bathroom up to date with the rest of the home. She wanted to utilise a full design and build company to ensure that (this time) the bathroom looked stunning and was built to last!
Teresa was asked if she could create a masculine feel, with strong contrasting tones. A striking appearance was achieved using dark tiles and a light coloured benchtop. Natural light was maximised using plantation shutters which boldly framed the windows. Like most requests, ease of cleaning and openness was a prerequisite for this new bathroom renovation. Teresa achieved this with a large walk through double shower and frameless glass panel. The client also requested more storage without compromising space and Teresa specified a large mirrored cabinet and extensive, blockish wood grain cabinetry to add space and warmth to this stunning bathroom design.
