Kitchen and Bathroom transformation – a case study

Just metres away from bustling Chapel St is Liisa William’s home, which thanks to a renovation by Smarter Bathrooms and Smarter Kitchen, looks every bit the modern inner city dwelling.

“Everyone who comes in to my home comments that my laundry is the best room in the house,” said Liisa “My laundry has no natural light, but after the renovation it isn’t dark at all. There’s plenty of storage and my laundry is not only beautiful – it’s very glamorous!”

Last year Liisa had two bathrooms renovated by Smarter Bathrooms, and she was so ecstatic with the results that she returned to Smarter Kitchens to refresh her tired kitchen.

“I contacted Smarter because a colleague from work had her bathroom done by them and I really liked the results so I rang up and they put the designers who did her bathroom in touch with me so we moved very quickly from there,” said Liisa.

“Vanessa came up with fantastic ideas for the kitchen that opened up plenty of bench space. Originally I hadn’t planned to do the laundry, but the way Vanessa designed it made that space an extension of the kitchen and transformed it in to a room that I am very proud of, in fact, the laundry turned out so beautifully that I asked the team to remove the door!”.

“It just looks a lot fresher and more interesting now. Functionally, the kitchen works a lot better; if I was trying to open the dishwasher which was opposite the fridge I didn’t have a lot of space, so that space was made bigger, one bench was moved out towards the living room, making a lot more space.”

When asked about the aesthetic transformation, Liisa explained “The kitchen floor is tiled in a stone colour, which continues across the floor of the laundry and up the back wall. The untiled space including the cabinets are covered in mirrors so light reflects everywhere so you can’t tell it’s a very small space; from the angles it kind of looks endless.”

The six week process itself was handled with professionalism and care “Smarter Kitchens gave me a start date, and everything went smoothly. They started on time, and finished within the timeframe. When renovating, the dust and the mess are unavoidable but Smarter Kitchens makes it workable. During this time nothing went wrong; they cleaned up very well and stuck to the schedule. I was confident that every time I came home something would be done,” said Liisa.
