Carlton North Home – Bathroom
The main bathroom in this single storey period style brick home in Carlton North was completely renovated by smarterBATHROOMS+ to create a luxurious, restful space where the client can retreat and take time out of her busy schedule.
The bathroom was a 1930 original with terrazzo floor, small tiles & pedestal basin, had no storage, a closed shower cubicle and an open louvre window which created a draught all year around.
A day-spa like feel was created with the stone freestanding bath and basin, large natural travertine floor and wall tiles, and matte black tapware and accessories. The touch of reclaimed timber used in the vanity top and mirror frame bring warmth to the space. The new larger black aluminium window in the bathroom gives the room the light and depth which was previously lacking in the space.
A double solid brick wall enabled the team to create a recess for a shower niche & recessed mirror without eating into the overall width of the room, to create an overall calming & tranquil feel to the bathroom space.
The kitchen in our Carlton North Home was completed a few years after the bathroom and demonstrated not only a clever use of space and storage but incorporated light, warmth and textural elements throughout to tie in perfectly with the bathroom space.
The clients couldn’t be more thrilled as their new kitchen and bathroom spaces has given the home a new lease on life, with the home now truly representing the clients’ love of natural finishes and clever design.
