Croydon
Bathroom
6 weeks
The bathroom in our client’s Croydon home was impractical from the get-go. With limited space in what was an angled bathroom, laundry and hallway, the area was due for a huge remodel. Our designer Steph had been in contact with the clients since 2014 and watched their entire home become carefully curated and renovated. When the time came for the sB+ team to get involved in the renovation process, the entire bathroom was ready to undergo a transformation, four years in the making.
By combining the spaces into one large bathroom, the designer was able to create a serene space with a laundry hidden within it. Outside is bought inside by using striking bi-folding doors that open to the home’s courtyard. This detail takes a bathing ritual to a whole new level of relaxation. The shower’s fluted glass screen acts not only as a feature to the Art Deco-inspired space but by obscuring the view creates privacy while allowing the light to stream in.
The balancing a mix of eras is skilfully pulled off by incorporating Art Deco elements with a contemporary design. The floor to ceiling embossed tiles add texture and warmth to the space while subtly inserting a geometric Art Deco pattern throughout. Complementary traditional tapware and fittings are used throughout the bathroom to tie everything together.
The vanity is completely bespoke and unique to the space, answering the client’s requirements to incorporate a laundry within the vanity unit. Steering away from natural stones, onyx has been used as the benchtop material adding a uniquely beautiful element. Additional glass-fronted cabinetry was also incorporated to maximise storage.
Steph and our clients were thrilled with the finished result – an immersive, sophisticated Art Deco space that was well worth the wait.
