Middle Park Kitchen

The kitchen redesign in this Middle Park residence was driven by the couple’s distinct needs—one partner’s love of entertaining and the other’s passion for cooking while staying connected with guests.

Function

The ‘show’ kitchen was designed to make a bold statement while remaining practical for daily use. The butler’s pantry was integrated seamlessly, featuring a continuous bench for functionality and an open layout to maintain a sense of connection with the main kitchen. Creative adaptations, such as venting the centrally positioned rangehood through the pantry and laundry, ensured that the kitchen maintained optimal functionality despite challenges like the concrete floor and natural light preservation.

Palette

The palette was carefully curated to create a sophisticated yet inviting space. Viola marble, chosen for its dramatic veining and luxurious appeal, served as the focal point. This was complemented by warm timber lower cabinets and light-colored upper cabinets to enhance the sense of height and openness. The curved island edge added a soft, organic feel to the space while improving flow. In the butler’s pantry, the aesthetic shifted to include more durable materials, blending practicality with design continuity.

Product

Viola marble was the standout material, providing a stunning visual anchor for the kitchen design. Stone benchtops were selected for their durability and practicality, particularly in high-use areas, ensuring the marble remained a decorative highlight. Timber cabinetry added warmth and texture, while lighter cabinetry finishes contributed to a balanced and airy ambiance. The design seamlessly transitioned from the main kitchen to the butler’s pantry, where more robust materials suited the space’s utilitarian demands, maintaining both functionality and style.
