Client Brief
Some bathrooms follow trends. Others are designed to feel just as beautiful in twenty years as they do today.
For this Northcote renovation, the brief was to create a bathroom that felt calm, refined and effortlessly timeless bringing together luxurious materials with thoughtful design to create a space that feels both indulgent and practical.
Natural warmth begins with custom Rubra Oak shaker cabinetry, introducing texture and depth while grounding the room with rich timber tones. Flowing throughout the vanity, recessed shower ledge and bath nib wall, striking Viola Marble creates a sense of continuity and craftsmanship, allowing each element to feel intentionally connected rather than simply assembled.
Soft layers of texture bring the design to life. Handcrafted white Spanish Zellige gloss tiles catch the changing light with their beautifully imperfect surface, while Normandy Classico wall tiles and Timeless Silver floor tiles provide a subtle, elegant backdrop that will remain timeless for years to come. Brushed gold tapware and antique brass mirrors introduce warmth and sophistication, adding refined detail without overpowering the space.
A generous walk-in shower and freestanding Victoria & Albert York bath transform the room into a true retreat—equally suited to the demands of everyday living and moments of quiet relaxation. Overhead, a large skylight floods the bathroom with natural light, enhancing the rich materials and creating an ever-changing atmosphere throughout the day.
The result is a bathroom that feels considered in every detail. Every finish, texture and proportion has been carefully selected to create a space that is elegant without feeling extravagant, luxurious without compromising practicality, and timeless enough to be enjoyed for many years to come.
This Northcote bathroom is a perfect example of how thoughtful design, premium materials and exceptional craftsmanship come together to create more than just a beautiful bathroom, they create a space that enriches everyday living.
